Islamabad Excise and Taxation Department has announced a relief for the owners with Islamabad registered cars. According to a statement, the department has introduced a huge facility for the owners of Islamabad registered cars across the country. “Now there is no need to bring the Islamabad number cars to the capital for physical checking,” the statement read, adding that now that checking can be done in four major cities of Punjab.
“In the first step, the facility is introduced in Lahore, Multan, Bahawalpur, and Faisalabad,” Islamabad Excise mentioned. The facility will be introduced in Karachi and Quetta in the second phase. The Islamabad Excise staff has started training Punjab’s excise staff in this regard.
During the physical checking, the Excise authorities check the Chessis number, whether it is tempered or not. The examination is rather strange because it is duty of customs to check whether the car is tempered or not, leading to the question, why Excise department is doing it? Although the Excise departments in the country have announced to go digital and shift the process to the apps and online channels, but this physical evaluation is a total opposite of that effort.
Earlier the car owners with Islamabad number had to visit the capital to get their car checked, but with these stations in other cities, it would be a sigh of relief for them. However, going back to physical checkup from digital process will encourage the agent mafia and we will be back to the old ways.
